File sharing using
P2P nets is one of the main incentives users have to contract an Internet connection, because it allows us to access all types of material (software, multimedia, documents, images, ...) that would be otherwise imposible to get.
WinMX is a file
sharing application designed in 2001 by Frontcode Technologies. This client is specialized in music downloading, like the famous Kazaa program did a few years back, but with a lot more security for the user, because this application doesn't include
spyware or
adware.
This application, that uses a rather old interface, incorporates all the usual functions that this type of client usually include, like chat, viewing what files we are sharing, configure the bandwidth, search for
downloads, etc...
Due to legal problems, the official website decided to close in 2005, but you can still
download the last version of the program from Malavida.com.
